This article will take a look at common protein sources and look at the cost as it relates to the quantity of protein. I will look at both the cost per gram of protein and the protein density. The reason I am including protein density (grams of protein per pound) is to get an idea of the quantity that would need to be consumed in relation to other food sources.
I have chosen to look at 6 different and common protein sources here: protein powder, chicken breast, 75/25 ground beef, 93/7 ground beef, whole eggs, and egg whites. I will probably be updating with more foods in the future.

Hi Users,
We have finished and deployed the ability to use public exercises in your workouts. There are 3 types of exercises now: standard, personal, and private. The standard exercises are just the default list, personal exercises are ones that you have made, and public exercises are ones made (and shared) by others.
To add a public exercise to your workout just click the tabs in the “Available Exercises” box when making a new workout. You can show private, public, or standard, and combinations of them.

Hi Folks,
Quick update. The ability to edit workouts has been added. You can now edit everything about your workouts, including the routine it is in. Note that this will not effect anyone that has copied the workout (if you made it public). If the workout is changed anyone that copies it afterwards will have the new version, but existing copies will not be changed.

Hi all,
A feature for the perspective users today. We have added the ability for users to sign up on the

Hi Users,
As promised (and requested) we have added the ability to use public routines that others have made. This works very similar to the public workout feature discussed previously.
Go to your Routines page and click the “Add a Public Routine” button to get a list of all the routines you can add to your account. Just as with the public workouts list your private routines will be shown, but only for you.

One of the things we wanted to address with OverTrainer was a way to easily share workout results with others. This may be for sending to friends and family, trainers or clients, or simply for a personal website. The easiest method we could think of was to use an image. This way even posting the results in a forum would most likely work and all formatting would be preserved.
This is the goal behind the embeddable results. To use just simply copy and paste the link given in the “To Embed” box.

Hi Users,
We have received some feedback that some users don't care to make a rigid plan and would like to not have frequencies tied to workouts. To address this, frequencies are now optional for a workout, just leave it blank and there is no frequency tied to it!

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming.
Some people have asked what the main goal is for OverTrainer (oT for short). The goal is very straightforward. oT is meant to be a tool to make workout design, logging and tracking dead simple. oT was started as a hobby since most similar services seemed either too complicated to be worth using, or lack important features. We have also been working hard on features to empower training professionals and coaches (stay tuned!)
There are a few ways to use oT depending on what you want out of it. You can:

Kick Off
Posted on 12/29/2008 by Erick
Hi OverTrainer users, just wanted to kick this thing off (this blog). We will be using this blog as a way to show new features, discuss any concerns, and maybe some training discussions . Plus this is another easy way to interact with our users. No new account is needed to post a comment here, just log into your OverTrainer account.
Let us know what you think of this service. We will read all the comments posted here, plus we read all messages sent with the comment box at the top of the page, and the feedback tab on the left.
Thanks again to all our testers, your feedback has been very valuable. Even the short correspondences sent via comments box up top have been very helpful.
Keep Training,
Erick Schmitt, OverTrainer.com owner
